... and will there be an option "boot with mac" and thus (more important to me) "DON'T boot with mac" ?

You mean a way to control startup script on a Mac?

Jan, it is really not needed on OSX.
During the Installation process you can choose to install or not the StartupScripts, so if you want to manual control the start of the server just do not install the StartupScripts.
